Kihei is a very friendly place to visit! It's safe to walk around at any time of day (or night).

Our vacation home is located a 3-4 minute walk from the nearest beach, Kamole 3 Beach and Park.  The beach has a great sandy bottom beach, good for kids, boogie boarding, or just soaking up the sun and enjoying the scenery (which includes whales breaching in the spring). There are bathrooms, picnic tables, barbecue pits, swings for the kids, lots of shade, and acres of grass to enjoy.

A few minutes further walk down the road brings you to shopping and restaurants.  Our favourite places are S and Q's, for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and shave ice; Da Kitchen for homestyle and Hawaiian cuisine; and Cafe O'lei for a nice meal out.

You can learn to surf in Kihei, stand up paddleboard, whale watch, snorkel, and many other activities nearby too numerous to mention. Great golf courses are nearby along with the upscale shopping in Wailea.

Makena Landing, also called Turtle Town, is a short drive away and is great for snorkelling and swimming with sea turtles. Check out our activity book in the condo for a few of our favourite things to do on the island and list yours as well for other guests to try.

Kihei has everything you may need: many shops, restaurants, and convenience stores are within walking distance from the condo, and the supermarkets are a short drive. Kahului is just a 15 - 20 minute drive if you're going to and from the airport or if you need to pick something up at one of the specialty shops or big box stores like Costco or Home Depot.

Nothing is too far away on Maui, the island has lots to offer, and the weather in Kihei is great almost every day too.
